Programs Related to Teaching that Enables Every Student to Thrive

The Center for Excellence in Teaching, Learning & Innovation (CETLI) supports all instructors in developing teaching approaches to help all students thrive to their potential, to welcome the full range of our students in our fields, and to communicate that the varied backgrounds of our students and community are a source of intellectual vitality. CETLI offers individual consults, online resources, and multi-session and one-time discussions around teaching that provide equal opportunity for learning.

Teaching to Enable Every Student to Thrive Seminar

This seminar brings together a cohort of faculty for monthly discussions over the course of an academic year. Participants will explore concrete strategies to foster equal opportunities for students to learn, developing practices and expertise they may use and share with others. Topics include:

  • Cultivating Student Connection
  • Setting and Communicating High Expectations
  • Connecting Your Course with the Values of Your Students
  • Course Structures that Benefit All Students
  • Managing Assumptions and Students' Interactions with One Another

Workshops & Events

CETLI provides workshops on teaching that supports the learning for the full range of students at Penn to departments and schools upon request. Workshops may be custom designed or selected from existing CETLI sessions.
