As the university now expects to return to in-person teaching for the Fall 2021 semester, we must tend to the pedagogical concerns, feelings, and reorientations that this transition will bring. In this workshop, we will collectively reflect upon how this year of remote learning has radically shifted our teaching philosophies and approaches, and consider the ways in which these shifts might be carried with us in our returns to the classroom. We will grapple with some of the following questions: How has this period reframed and expanded our understandings of what teaching can look like? What pedagogical tools have we acquired and want to retain from this experience? How might it look to teach in the “afterlives” of a pandemic?
Open to Penn graduate students.
All graduate students are welcome. This event grows out of concerns in the History of Art department and so may be most useful to students in related fields.
