Making Group Work Work Remotely

Convener: Antoine Haywood, CETLI Graduate Fellow, Communication

Group work can be an excellent way to encourage peer interactions and make the remote learning experience dynamic. However, keeping students focused on the material and accountable to each other is a challenge that often arises when students are given collaborative work assignments. This workshop will provide strategies for structuring group work in remote learning scenarios and address questions such as: What strategies help groups achieve a balanced distribution of work? How do you approach and engage a low-participating group member? And, are group check-ins necessary? If so, how do you make sure check-ins are helpful? We will also think about ways to fairly evaluate student participation and work in a group setting.

Registration Required.

This workshop counts as a TA Training Follow-up Workshop.
