Helping Students in Distress, Featuring Penn’s Wellness Team

Facilitator: Mia Tian, College Mental Health Clinician, International Specialist, Counseling and Psychological Services
Convener: Cerulean S. Payne-Passmore, CETLI Graduate Fellow, Music

Are you prepared to help a student in distress? Join us for a workshop led by Wellness team member Mia Tian focused on supporting students in difficult times. In this workshop, we will talk about signs of stress, distress, and crisis. You will also learn some general skills to communicate effectively, create a supportive environment, provide immediate help, how to refer students to Counseling Center, and how to set boundaries as a TA or instructor that support your wellbeing and get students connected to the support they need.

All graduate students are welcome. This event grows out of concerns in the Music department, and so may be most useful to students in related fields.

Counts toward the CETLI Teaching Certificate.
