Effective Lecturing

Facilitator: Rehana Thembeka Odendaal, CETLI Fellow, Education, Culture & Society, and Sociology

Academics receive training for many types of professional presentations, but lecturing, and the preparation required, is often overlooked. In this workshop, we will consider a variety of factors that make a lecture engaging and informative. We will discuss strategies you can use to prepare, sample structures for an effective lecture, and tools and technologies you can use to support yourt message. By taking a magnifying glass to one of the university’s taken-for-granted activities, you will leave with practical tips and suggestions to consider when preparing your own lectures.
