During the academic year, CETLI invites you to send a thank you note to an instructor who had a positive impact on your experience at Penn—whether that was this semester or in semesters past. CETLI will share your gratitude with the professors whose teaching made a difference. With permission, thank you notes may also be published on CETLI's website, digital signage, or social media.
Note: if you have more than one instructor you would like to thank, please submit a separate form for each instructor.
Thank you for taking a moment to share your gratitude.
Submissions are closed and will reopen in Fall 2026.
Thank You Notes from 2025 - 2026
Thank you Madame Nicvert for making my first year at Penn more fun, and I feel encouraged to continue taking language classes here. I became more confident speaking in French and I’m grateful for the beautiful community I met thanks to your classes.
Thank You to Marion Nicvert (School of Arts & Sciences)
Extremely helpful, kind, and supportive professor, transcends the idea of what an academic figure could be, genuinely made me feel included and welcome always. Thank you.
Thank You to Adam Mally (Penn Engineering)
At the beginning of this class Professor Sturkey said it would change my life. I didn't believe him then but after taking the class, I can solidly say that he was correct. Mr. Sturkey is an amazing teacher with a genuine infectious energy and care for the subject matter. His class was what compelled me to declare an Africana studies minor and learn more about African American culture and history.
Thank You to William Sturkey (School of Arts & Sciences)
I’m so grateful that I got to have Professor Allan as my instructor for the beginner courses of Spanish at Penn. He not only encouraged us to strengthen our foundations of the language, but challenged us to further explore components of speaking Spanish beyond our curriculum. He also made a big difference in my approach of learning new and hard things by helping me see how much more discipline and effort can affect your success than a natural inclination or previous experience with the language. Gracias Profesor Allan!
Thank You to Chad Allan (School of Arts & Sciences)
We always knew that Dev truly cared about us learning and appreciating the content, he would even stay two hours late at his office hours to go through mechanisms with us the night before an exam. He always has a fun fact about the reaction he's explaining, and he answers every question thoughtfully and mechanistically. I'm so grateful to have him as a TA!
Thank You to Devendra Maurya (School of Arts & Sciences)
I was extremely worried entering my 3rd semester of college-level chemistry after a rough experience in general chemistry, however, Dr. Winkler's continued assistance helped me make tremendous strides in my chemistry knowledge. After taking his course, I found a new love for the problem-solving aspect of organic chemistry, which is something I certainly never thought I would be saying. Thank you Dr. Winkler!
Thank You to Jeffrey Winkler (School of Arts & Sciences)
