Incorporating Active Learning into Your Classroom

Facilitator: Diana Lalata, CETLI Graduate Fellow, Educational Linguistics

Active learning can spark curiosity, engagement, and confidence for both the instructor and students when approaching new or difficult concepts. This workshop will offer an overview of practical tips and active learning strategies that can promote student engagement with the course material and make learning stick. It will also unpack how instructors might differently perceive “active” learning by bringing attention to the many ways that students might participate. You are encouraged to bring your own experiences and expertise to the workshop to build a collaborative toolkit of teaching stances and strategies.
