Zen and the Art of Chalkboard Maintenance: Teaching Quantitative Classes

Facilitator: Dr. Joel Boerckel, Orthopaedic Surgery
Convener: Aria Huang, CETLI Graduate Fellow, Bioengineering

This workshop focuses on effective teaching in quantitative courses in STEM disciplines and beyond, with an emphasis on establishing clear and structured chalkboard communication. We will explore strategies for pacing, organizing complex quantitative material, and encouraging student engagement. The overall goal is to make abstract concepts more accessible through intentional boardwork.

All graduate students are welcome. This event grows out of concerns in the Bioengineering department, and so may be most useful to students in related fields.

Counts toward the CETLI Teaching Certificate.
