When writing your statement of teaching philosophy, do not be daunted by the term "teaching philosophy." You are simply communicating both what it is you try to accomplish in the classroom and how you go about doing that. Give your readers some specific examples of things you do and why.
You want the reader to have a sense of what it would be like to be in your classroom. To that end, consider specific experiences and strategies that convey your approach to teaching or concrete steps you have taken to help students learn, and avoid jargon and clichés. Strong statements will convey what you value in teaching, as well as your thoughtfulness about and enthusiasm for your teaching.
