Teaching Strategy: “Effective Board Work”

Convener: Shafagh Keyvanian, CETLI Fellow, Mechanical Engineering and Applied Mechanics

This workshop aims to enhance educators’ board work effectiveness during lectures and recitation sessions. It will highlight best practices for using the board to engage students, clearly present information, and facilitate interactive learning. Participants will explore techniques such as optimal board layout, clarity in writing, and strategic use of diagrams and visuals to reinforce key concepts.

Lunch will be provided to all attendees. Please make sure to register so that we have an accurate head count.

All graduate students are welcome. This event grows out of concerns in the Mechanical Engineering and Applied Mechanics department, and so may be most useful to students in related fields.
