Big and geocoded data allow new ways of critically addressing issues of equity and inequality in education. How can courses in educational research and policy use these resources to tackle issues and problems such as peer effects on student performance or the relationship between college choices and student proximity to the institution. In addition to discussing how big and geocoded data can be used in coursework, the workshop will also discuss ways that students’ job-market papers and/or journal publications can be developed through coursework. All graduate students are welcome. This event grows out of concerns in the Education department and so may be most useful to students in related fields.
