Regular, low-stakes assessment of student learning may increase the amount students learn, while reducing some student stress and – of particular importance in this online moment – the temptation to cheat spurred by high stakes exams. In this session Anne Duchene of Economics and Bruce Kothmann of Mechanical Engineering and Applied Mechanics will discuss how they have revised their classes to include more frequent assessments. Participants will have the opportunity to consider both how to reset student expectations and manage their own workload to best help students learn throughout the course rather than just under the pressure of midterms and finals.
