Teaching in the Aftermath of THIS Election

Facilitator: CETLI Staff

This extraordinarily contentious election has left many of our students – and many of us – struggling. In this discussion we will consider what this election may mean for us in our teaching. This could mean talking about specific topics such as: how we talk with upset students in the wake of the event; how we work with students who may have concerns for their acceptance and safety; how divergent viewpoints enter our classrooms; emotion in the classroom; our own concerns about how our own identities will be received; how this may impact material or fields we chose to teach – to name a few possibilities. The focus of the conversation is open for participants to define as most useful for them.

On Monday, November 11 at noon, CETLI is hosting a similar session, Navigating the Post-Election Period with Your Students, for Graduate student TAs and instructors. If you are a Graduate student TA or instructor, register on the event page.
