TA Orientation is mandated for all first-time master’s student TAs for the School of Engineering and Applied Science (SEAS) and the School of Arts and Sciences (SAS). Additionally, PhD students TAing in Bioengineering and Materials Science Engineering should attend this orientation.  If you have any questions, please email CETLI.

Thank you for your interest in our orientation program. Please note that CETLI does not match students to TA or LA positions. You must have already accepted a position to register for orientation. However, you do not need to be assigned to a specific section or have completed HR onboarding to register. If you have accepted a position and are just waiting on your specific section assignment or HR paperwork, please exit this registration form and re-start.
Thank you for your response. Since you have previously attended an orientation program facilitated by CETLI at Penn, you do not need to attend CETLI orientation again. Please note that orientations and trainings not facilitated by CETLI do not count. If you are uncertain whether the orientation you attended was facilitated by CETLI, please email CETLI-info@upenn.edu. If you know that you attended a CETLI orientation before, you are all set.
PhD students TAing for the first time (with the exception of those in the departments of Bioengineering and Materials Science Engineering) usually attend TA training in August. If you have missed the 3-day August TA Training program, please contact CETLI-info@upenn.edu for more details.
Once you submit your registration you will receive an invitation to mandatory asynchronous CETLI Canvas modules shortly. Your course leadership team will contact you with further information about your in-person training obligations.

Please enter the course code for the class you will be a TA or LA for. (For example, Foundations of Data Science would be entered as PHYS 1100.)

To ensure your attendance at the in-person portion of the training is comfortable and accessible, please let us know if you have any accommodation or access needs (e.g., large print materials, digital versions of handouts for screenreader use, wheelchair accessible seating, ASL interpreters, etc.). This is not like academic accommodations where documentation through disability services is required. You may also decline to answer this question.
