Julia Lynch has been named the faculty co-director for CETLI by Provost John L. Jackson. Jr. and deputy provost Beth A. Winkelstein. Her role began on July 1, 2024.
Dr. Lynch is a professor of political science who has been teaching at Penn since 2001. From 2020 to 2024, she served as the co-director of Penn’s Joseph H. Lauder Institute of Management and International Studies. She currently serves on the advisory boards of the Leonard Davis Institute of Health Economics, the Italian Studies Program, and the bioethics minor.
In the Almanac announcement, Provost Jackson praised Dr. Lynch’s pedagogical approach and dedication: “She is a pioneer of active learning and inclusive teaching who brings to this new role her strong commitments to pedagogical innovation, disability-sensitive teaching, cross-disciplinary outreach, and mentoring and training of graduate students.”
Lynch will join Masao Sako, who was named faculty co-director of the Center in April, in meeting CETLI’s mission to support all instructors in reaching their teaching aims and advance innovative teaching and learning at Penn.
