Group work can take a variety of forms ranging from shorter in-class assignments to larger cumulative projects and presentations. Assigning group work can be an excellent way to provide a space for students to engage each other about the ideas they encounter in your classroom. However, keeping students accountable to the material and each other is a challenge that often arises when students are invited to collaborate. This workshop will provide strategies for structuring group work in the classroom so that it is productive for all students. We’ll also think about ways to fairly evaluate student participation and work in a group setting.
