Participants in this workshop will think about the various ways to connect students to the course and create a sense of community in the class. While live sessions will be part of this discussion, participants will be encouraged to consider how asynchronous elements — including discussion boards, peer review and student-created presentation of content — will help students connect to the class as well. Finally, this session will consider how to think about participation in an online course and how to identify students who are struggling. By the end of this workshop, participants will have developed a plan for using a variety of different tools to keep students connected throughout the course.
This workshop is designed for instructors who will be teaching online classes this summer.
