The College App Classroom team, which includes Ellen Rhudy, CETLI’s associate director of instructional design, has earned a 2025 Project for Progress Grant. Now in its fifth year, the Project for Progress Grant supports programs that
“address serious issues that impact everyday lives in the city of Philadelphia,” as reported by Penn Today. “The College App Classroom is a free 28-lesson modular course created to address the curricular gap for students and their supporters who need vetted instructional resources about applying to college and financial aid. The course is currently piloted in six schools.”
The College App Classroom team includes members of the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, the Penn College Achievement Program (PennCAP) at Penn First Plus, the Penn Rising Scholar Success Academy (PennRSSA) in the Division of Student Engagement, and Student Registration & Financial Services. “With support from Projects for Progress,” Rhudy says, “I'm excited for our team to expand the course's reach and analyze the student and instructor experience. This will help us make sure the course is helping Philly students build—and achieve!—their college goals."
